Critical Thinking in CLIL for secondary students

Wednesday, 21st October,
18:00
Critical Thinking in CLIL for secondary students
In the future, our students will be doing jobs we could not even possibly imagine now. How, as educators, can we prepare our students for such a future? One answer is to focus on 21st century skills, one of the most important of which is critical thinking. This is a key thinking skill in the age of the internet, where we are subjected to a constant flow of information, not all of which is reliable and unbiased.
This webinar will look at practical ways that critical thinking skills can be supported and developed in the CLIL classroom. We’ll have a look at how to create and scaffold critical thinking activities which require students to enquire more thoroughly about language or ideas in order to reach a better understanding, to ask, ‘What’s really going on here?’

Best practices for teaching Geography and History content to Secondary students
Between outside pressures such as social and political change, pandemics and the introduction of distance learning to the classroom, teachers just like you and me still seek to improve and perfect our classes as best we can!
While “Best” practices may be a subjective term, we can all agree that there are certainly good practices that all teachers should be able to adopt for the classroom, and that is exactly what we will explore in this webinar.
During this hour-long webinar designed around the teaching of History and Geography in a bilingual setting, you will learn about:
  • Active methodologies
  • Digital competences
  • Innovative evaluation techniques
This webinar will have a practical approach, open to teachers with any level of experience and will include a Q&A session at the end to clarify or further elaborate any ideas.
