This video from unesco.org on YouTube celebrates Mother Language Day (February 21) and will introduce your learners to different mother languages from around the world, introduced by speakers of them. How many do your learners know and do they know where they are spoken?. (Image taken from the unesco.org video)
The theme for World Water Day on 22 March 2019 is ‘Leaving no one behind’. To learn more about using water sustainably and the importance of water, use these resources from the World Water Day website. It includes videos, a factsheet, educational posters and there are even real stories of how water impacts on different people around the world and the planet itself. School children and young people around the world are demanding that we take better care of the planet – with a strike in January 2019 and another planned for 15 March. On the TEDEd website we can see a video of the founder of the movement #FridaysForFuture, schoolgirl Greta Thunberg, explaining her case, and find more activities to do with our learners (Think, Dig Deeper and Discuss) to further develop the topic in class. You will find a range of dynamic and interactive lesson ideas and plans (at the ico.org website) to develop your learners’ awareness of the importance of protecting their personal information and helping them to navigate the net safely, ready for Data Privacy Day (28 January).
