Organised to mark the centenary of the death of Asturian painter Darío de Regoyos, “The Impressionist Adventure” consists of around 150 oil paintings, pastels, watercolours, drawings and engravings. Visitors will gain an idea of the artist’s forms of expression, interests and aesthetic development. Original letters and photographs will also be on display to broaden our understanding of Regoyos’ personality, professional contacts and personal friendships.
A prolific artist, Regoyos went through a number of phases as a painter. The best-known stage of his career, which this exhibition concentrates on, was basically Impressionist. The oil paintings in “The Impressionist Adventure” give the public an opportunity to discover the original contribution Regoyos made to the painting of his time. After premiering in Bilbao (7th October, 2013 – 26th January, 2014) the exhibition will travel on to the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid and later, in a smaller version, to the Carmen Thyssen Museum in Malaga.
