Pablo Ruiz Picasso, one of the greatest and most influential artists of the twentieth century, lived in La Coruña for nearly four years. The city was where he started to paint and first exhibited his art work 120 years ago.
To celebrate this period in Picasso’s life, the city is currently hosting four exhibitions. The first, El Primer Picasso
, brings together more than 81 pieces of his work, including his first masterpiece “Girl with bare feet”. The exhibition will be in the Museum of Fine Art until 24 May 2015.
The María José Jove Foundation
is organising No hablaremos de Picasso in the Kiosko Alfonso. Ten works of art from international artists such as Ernesto Neto will allow visitors to reflect on universal concepts present in Picasso´s work. There will also be ten different workshops and activities for children from February to April 2015.
In the exhibition space of Palexco
, photographs by Edward Quinn will reveal fascinating insights into Picasso’s personal and family life.
Finally, the Abanca Foundation
will be exploring the influence of Isidoro Brocos, Picasso’s teacher during his time in La Coruña.
