This school year, Bachillerato classrooms in Madrid will see the first students who have been taught in bilingual programmes in both Primary and then ESO. Selected schools will be able to give any subjects in English in Bachillerato, apart from Spanish Language, Literature and Mathematics.
The Comunidad de Madrid web site
explains that schools which decide to extend their bilingual programme into Bachillerato will be able to offer two additional hours of English, allowing them to incorporate the teaching of history and culture of Great Britain and The USA in the nineteenth and twentieth century.
Madrid is celebrating the tenth anniversary of its bilingual programme and there will also be a new dedicated web page. This will include information on teacher training courses abroad and activities for students in bilingual schools such as speech contests and theatre in English.
