New Centre Pompidou opens in Malaga

//15/04/07
The world famous Centre Pompidou has opened its first “provisional” site: Centre Pompidou Malaga was inaugurated 28 March 2015. It can be found in the well known “Cubo” building in the city’s port and will be there for five years. The Centre will house a permanent collection of XX and XXI century works from the Pompidou collection, including photography, design, architecture and video. Visitors will experience multidisciplinary programmes aimed at young audiences and dedicated to dance, representation, the written word, and cinema.

The Centre will celebrate its opening with a temporary exhibition exploring the human body and the art of choreography, Corps Simples / A Ver cómo te mueves.

Children from six to twelve will be introduced to Art through creative workshops, exhibitions and meeting artists. These activities will invite them to discover, experiment, and serve as a trampoline for their imagination. For example, children will be able to interact with a game-artwork by Miquel Navarro and build their own cities. Or explore self portraits while “playing” with their own image. Young visitors will be welcome with their families or in school groups.

The site (created by the scientist Jane Goodall) promotes empowering young people to build a better future in their communities.  On pages 3 and 4 there are plans for lower primary, primary and secondary learners. How much will they learn about animals in their community and animal shelters? (Image taken from rootsandshoots.org website)
